How to Get Involved
Shelter Shifts
The Kenora Cat Shelter is entirely run by volunteers. Our volunteers are a very dedicated and special group of people who donate their time and energy to make a difference in the lives of our cats. We are always in need of volunteers to help out at the shelter working directly with the cats. Shelter shifts involve cleaning out kennels and litter-boxes, laundry, dishes, feeding the cats and, of course, giving them some much needed love and attention! Morning shifts are 8am-11am, and evening shifts are 4pm-6pm, 365 days a year. Volunteers must be minimum of 16 years of age to volunteer for shelter shifts.
Volunteering Outside of the Shelter
Are you interested in helping out but can't work hands on with the cats? There are still tons of ways you can contribute to their care.
You can help us with fundraising events such as yard sales, BBQs, open houses, markets, and seasonal events. Stay up to date on what’s happening on our events page!
We are always in need of yummy baking for our bakes sales. Please reach out if you’d like to be added to our bake sale volunteer call out!
Are you an avid reader or love organizing? We are in need of someone to help with organizing the vast collection of books in our library.
We always need help counting and sorting the empties at our bottle drive. Please reach out if you’re interested in helping us with this daily fundraiser!
We need help with driving the cats to the vet in the mornings Monday - Friday

Cat Shelter Bottle Drive
Empty beer and wine bottles are collected year round and turned in for bottle deposit refunds. Our drop off door is open from 8am-5pm at 725 Railway Street in Kenora, Ontario
Have too many bottles and no way to deliver? Give us a call and we can arrange for a pick up!
Having a social, party or wedding? Save all your empties for us!
Cat Shelter Donation Jars
Help us help our feline friends by placing a Kenora Cat Shelter donation jar at your business. Donation jars are a great way for the public to easily donate to us and every little bit of change helps. Just place the jar on your counter near your register. As the jar fills up, bring the change to The Kenora Cat Shelter or a shelter volunteer can regularly stop by to collect the donations. Please contact The Kenora Cat Shelter at 807-468-4648 to arrange for a donation jar to be dropped off at your place of business.
