Our Mission

Our mission is to work with Kenora and the surrounding areas to provide shelter and compassion to our feline friends and help them find their forever homes. We are run fully by volunteers and donations.

The Kenora Cat Shelter was established in February 2003 when the Kenora Humane Society closed. With the loss of the Humane Society, a huge hole in animal rescue was created. Celynn Alcock recognized the need for a cat shelter and generously opened up her heart and home to the cats in desperate need of rescuing. After 20 years of running the shelter daily, the volunteers joined together to help Celynn retire. We are so thankful for Celynn for all the tireless work she has put into the shelter and the cats. The shelter moved locations in July 2023.

Thanks to the dedication, compassion and endless efforts of our volunteers - The Kenora Cat Shelter has helped over 3600 cats and counting.
